Today we started to compile a collection of Art Parodies or Remixes that we may use as inspiration for our Art Parody drawing. You can compile this collection in a google doc and share it with me at [email protected]...or you can show my your pinterest page. For Pinterest, pin at least 15 images. For the Google Doc, copy and paste at least 5 and then write about your ideas for using these to inspire your parody project.

In class we watched these videos about contemporary artists and how they observe. You need to write a paragraph reflection in Seesaw Notes about what you learned/noticed about how artists observe. Also begin working through the drawing exercises that are in the packet handed out in class.

Sketchbook Homework assignment is due today: Draw a drawer and all the contents inside. This should be a line drawing - no shading.

Finish up Watercolor Bootcamp classwork and turn in the 1/2 page reflection sheet.

Please see this handout which was given out today in class. This has our current assignments on it. Today in class we watched a video of the Unity Project. In your sketchbook (& upload a photo of your page to Seesaw) or in Seesaw Notes, please describe the project in your own words and explain where the artist got her inspiration from. What did you think about the project?

Close Up Composition Assignment - Due Friday
Choose an object from the table and using your viewfinder create at least 3 sketches of different compositions of the same object. Choose one that seems the most interesting and finish it. This should be done on 6x9" drawing paper provided in class.

Today we talked about using a viewfinder to help us create creative compositions. We walked around the room and did observational sketches using our viewfinders. If you need to make one, check out this video.
Tuesday, September 12
You should be working on finishing your project...it is due by Friday. To turn it in, you need to upload it to seesaw, fill out a rubric and write an artist statement. Also, remember your sketchbook homework is due on Friday as well.
Friday, September 8
You should be working on ideas for a drawing of your choice. You will choose the drawing media you would most like to work with. This drawing is due by Friday, September 15.
SKETCHBOOK HOMEWORK: Each week you will now have sketchbook homework to complete at home in your sketchbook. It is recommended that you spend about an hour on your drawing. This weeks subject is: draw an egg (or eggs) in an egg carton. Show values/shading. This assignment is worth 10 points.

Today we spent time trying out different drawing media: chalk pastels, oil pastels, ink and colored pencils.
If you did not get a chance to do the Draw Around the Room activity in class today, please spend a little time learning some techniques for these medias.

Today we experimented with blending with charcoal.

Sketchbook Cover Designs due today. Please upload a picture of your drawing to Seesaw.
Also, if you missed class today, we learned about values. You should complete a value scale and a shaded sphere in your sketchbook.

Today in class we discussed Countour Drawing. If you missed the lesson or need a refresher, please watch this video. You should practice one detailed contour drawing in your sketchbook or two smaller object contour drawings. Remember you should be drawing from life: an object sitting in front of you!

Today in class we watched this video about BLIND CONTOUR DRAWING. You should practice this technique in your sketchbook and try at least 2 Blind Contour Drawings, label and date them. Remember that your sketchbook cover is due by Thursday. It must be uploaded to Seesaw.

Today we discussed hardness of graphite. Please refer to this article for more info. If you missed today, please spend a little time experimenting with the drawing pencils.

SKETCHBOOK COVER - Due Aug. 31. (20pts)
PURPOSE:
To get familiar with a variety drawing materials
To complete a piece of art that can be used as a creative and decorative cover for your sketchbook
MATERIALS:
Paper, Markers, Colored Pencil, Pencil, Pen, magazines, Crayon
REQUIRED DESIGN ELEMENTS:
You must fill the entire page with your drawings/design.
